The Tour – Day 2 (Borra Caves and Araku Valley)

14-09-2012,

Vishakhapatanam-Araku Valley.

We vacated the hotel and arrived at the railway station by 6 o’clock in the morning and our train to Araku valley – Kirandul Passenger arrived by around 6:30am… Since there is no option for prior reservations, we rushed into the train for seats… All of us got the seats… The rush, some people speaking in ‘oriya language’, everything seemed awesome and funny… The train started shortly there after and in less than an hour, we have entered the beautiful hill side zone… All the valleys, over 45tunnels and everybody shouting our hearts out in excitement with each passing tunnel.., it was simply awesome…

We arrived at Borra Caves Railway Station by around 10 am. The weather there was so pleasant… A number of tourist guides with different range of packages approached us… We have chosen the one that suited us the best way in view of total amount we had to pay, the places that were covered, and everything…

Got into their vehicle and we went to Katiki Waterfalls. Initially, I have decided not to get into water there… But, I couldn’t resist myself for getting wet and jumped into water… It was a great experience… The water was ice cold and the drop was so powerful that we were not able to stand directly under the fall… except 2-3, everyone got into water…

Before reaching there, we have thought of getting out in 30min from there, but once we reached, we stayed there for almost 2hrs…

Then, we had our lunch and reached Borra Caves… They are almost a million years old and formed naturally due to draining of calcium-salts from the hill by water… The walls are still wet and the water is still dripping out slowly and continuously… We knew of those caves by a popular telugu movie and being there felt really good…

The Vehicle they have provided was a bit congested and we requested them for another vehicle… The travels people assured us that they will change it in Araku, where will be reaching only after all the sightseeing that day… But, thats fine…

The last place we visited on that day was Chaparai. The flow of water was too high and we have decided not to get into water there… Also, we heard of an accident occured there just a day ago…, and we didn’t go too much into water there… we have spent an hour there…

My friends have had Bongulo Chicken, a dish famous at that place and I gave them company with a Fried Corn on the cob…

Finally, we reached our resorts and Checked in…

There started an unexpected turbulence… My Digital Camera couldn’t be traced… Many of us were operating that and we have already captured about 1000+ moments in that… We have checked all our bags, pants and also our vehicle. But, we couldn’t find it… 😦

We have planned for a camp-fire that night, but the camera thing ate up most of our spirit and all the time that night…
